I am starting to feel like a runner. Sure I am only 7 days into my new running routine, but I'm already changing. I was still feeling sore yesterday, so I decided to take second rest day. I figured my body is in shock from all this and needed a little extra time to rest. I am glad I did; I was barely sore at all this morning and, dare I say, excited to get out and hit the pavement. But, it was raining... usually this would stop me in my tracks, especially since the forecast is suggesting record rainfall in our area today. My mom was coming over, so I had to take advantage of having someone to watch the little monkey. I laced up my shoes and was out the door.
Now let's get to the fun part... let's talk about all my accomplishments! I beat all my Nike+ records: farthest run, longest run, fastest 1k, and fastest mile. Besides beating all my records, I ran for 5 minutes straight. This might not sound like a huge accomplishment, but on my last run I could only run 2 minutes before I had to stop and walk. Here's the breakdown of today's intervals:
1 min walking warm up, 5 min run, 2 min walk, 4 min run, 2 min walk, 3 min run, 2 min walk, 3 min run (I planned on only running 2 min, but I felt good... so I did 3), 2 min walk, 2 min run, 1 min walk, 1 min run, 1 min walk. Total was 29 minutes; 18 running, 11 walking. I ran 2.25 miles.
More good news... I am tired, but not beat-up like I have been after my other runs. I feel good. I am getting stronger. I can't wait for tomorrow so I can push myself even more.
